An anti-Nazi dissident, Bonhoeffer was executed for plotting against the Fürer, Adolf Hitler, on 9 April 1945 just before the collapse of the Nazi regime. One of the most challenging and compelling works on Christian ethics produced during the chaos and confusion of the Second World War is by the German theologian, Dietrich Bonhoeffer.
